The hotel serves two purposes: We got a very good deal and the tours we took we took were great and the beach the hotel was on was private, but we would not go back. The hotel had garbage everywhere and the resident dogs followed people around. If you are adventurous or interested in one of the two purposes above you can give it a shot.
Many people seem to use the hotel as a cottage-like destination and just being on the beach was worth it. But heads up about purpose 1 and 2 and the combination More. Just back last night. Acommadations are basic but I emphasize clean. Our room had 2 single beds, a shower with nice hot H2O and a working tv and air conditioner and a free safe.
The food is basic but always clean and cooked properly, I suggest getting there at the start of the buffet before the feeding frenzy starts. The beach is nice, no big waves, yes as others have said seaweed. The beach a 5 minute walk away is nicer. The paddleboats are great and the cattermarin is also free a tip is appreciated and this also was fun.
You can snorkle right off the shore. There are horses grazing on the property that are friendly along with very friendly dogs and cats. You can ride the horses on the property for free or for 3 CUC he will take you riding for over an hour along the beach to a river. You go by houses and goats and regular Cuba. The horses wade right in the sea and when we got to the river the guide took off the horses' saddle I took off my shoes and I went in the river so the horse was swimming.
WOW Yes there are prostitutes here but they don't bother you. It is legal if they are 18 and it made me feel better to see our security guard go after an obviously underaged girl from going into the older mans room, they tried the "he's my dad routine" but the staff said no way and sent her on her way. It's hard to dismiss this profession when the wages are so low in Cuba and there isn't enough work so 1 night probably feeds her family for a month.
