After having read about it I am very interested in visiting this place to see what it is like, the dark side of Bangladesh. Please note that I am NOT interested in participating in anything illegal including prostitution. Where can I find a good and reasonable priced guide in Dhaka? Its not dark area of Bangladesh. If it is then I have to say every big city of other countries dark when prostotution is legal, Here just was a small place as its totally prohibited by law.
Even the place still operate or not, when locals not visit there for such event, expats are impossible due to overall atmosphere. You know what I meant. This is majority Muslim country, and local culture is respectful to religious. For what still here alcohol only allowed to expats in certain areas. And prostitute totally prohibited.
You know in a big city, here also you may avail everything, but in a certain area and individual relationship. For accompany you should have 1to1 communication. As fun may be it's called: It was really great metting with you and had some lovely Days. I believe you made it possible to visit that area. Please let us know your experience. It means that you are looking for a guide to take you to that place and arranging hotel etc. In this site, tour operators are that you can contact.
I know one guide who can assist you to get to that corner. His email- srazbe yahoo. This place defenitely is still operating, so the first poster is not completely right. Though, it has developed a bit lately. Still most, if not all, people who are working and living there in the brothel are unhappy but have no other ways. I got to speak with a few workers who have been either trafficked or born into the brothel.
I also visited a school of children from workers nearly all of them will never know their father. For foreigners afraid of going there: You will draw a lot of aggressive attention though, so always be careful. Police is not of any help there, but NGO workers might help you if you talk to them. Do you know the name of the NGO in that area? I would greatly appreciate it if you do.
