The statue of Imperia is a kind of symbol of the city at the entrance of the harbour. The artist Peter Lenk is famous for all his sculptures, statues and fountains, which are ironic copies of present or historic personalities. The Imperia was a callgirl during the time of the council She keeps the church and the state power in her hands. If you understand history you are allowed to visit this callgirl - for free! If not - only enjoy the view to the lake and the Alps.
It's fairly small, it rotates, it's somewhat interesting to look at but nothing particularly beautiful or funny or otherwise magnificent. It's worth to stop by for the surrounding area anyway, so if you visit the harbor, you won't be able to avoid this one anyway.
There were some performing acts, lots of people soaring to board ferries and even a car show when we were there. We took our dog and plenty other dogs were around. The statue was larger than I imagine and in a clear day has a Great Lake border and lake background.
To our surprise the statue rotates. The best pictures come from a departing or arriving ferry. We took one to Meerburg. I had no idea that she moved! Well still a beautiful view non the less.
You gotta go and spend the sunset out in the water! Nevertheless, its a cool monument and its podium offers great views onto Lake Konstanz and the Alps in the distance.
